Bowl Me Over (or not)

photo-1

No, we didn’t give Zoe a bowl cut (though I’ve considered it, and the picture above is of her first ponytail hairdo). Much unlike a bowl cut, we actually took her bowling. And 2-year old bowling is a lot like you’d expect – let’s just say I’m not the only one with a really short attention span.

I was excited to walk in to LOTS of open lanes and LOTS of other kids (though none her size) who were bowling on this lovely Sunday before Christmas. The lightest ball is 6 pounds (quite a lot for a tiny body, though of course she was excited to hold it for about 2 seconds). The smallest shoes are size 9 (she wears a 7), and these two things alone should have been a sign that maybe, just maybe, she was a little too little for bowling. God bless her father for constantly thinking she’s 10 years old.

I, on the other hand, act like she’s a newborn. Do you KNOW how slippery those floors are?? And HARD. Why they have slippery shoes on slippery floors I’ll never understand. And while seeing other kids at the bowling alley is cool, they have ZERO control of those big heavy balls, and our little 2-year-old has no sense of danger on a slippery floor running in the direction of someone else’s lane…

Anyway, I caught her first bowl EVER on VIDEO:

My favorite part? Zoe’s attention span outlasted her father’s. Or (as he claims) outlasted his ability to be on his knees on a hard floor. You be the judge. I must say that overall we had a fun time (mostly because I won by 3 points), and when we got home, though she was “mildly interested” in the actual bowling while AT the bowling alley, she insisted that she wanted to go bowling (again). We’ll see.

Merry Christmas Eve!
